Responsible Craftsmanship.

Comfort shouldn't cost the earth. From the materials we choose to the way we build, we're making furniture — and a company — worth resting assured in.

THE NEW US

We've chosen to focus on attainable goals across three areas: nature, the welfare of our people, and how we govern ourselves. Caring for our employees' development and health, being an ethical employer, consciously selecting
suppliers and materials, investing in innovation, and engaging openly with our stakeholders — these are the foundations of the company we want to be. This is just the beginning.

OUR FRAMEWORK

We've built our sustainability strategy around the EU's ESG framework and the MSCI standard, so our progress is measured, not just stated — across the environment, our people, and how we run the business.
ESG

ENVIRONMENTAL

Carbon footprint.

We've begun measuring the carbon footprint of both our products and our company, at every stage of production. Understanding the impact of each piece lets us make better, more conscious decisions — improving efficiency without ever compromising on quality.

Carbon footprint

Less glue, more research.

Glue affects both the environment and the health of the people who work with it. That's why we've reduced glue use in our furniture by 50%, with the goal of eliminating it entirely — and why we partner with universities to research cleaner, more innovative ways to build.

Less glue

Sustainable sourcing.

We work with conscious suppliers and certified raw materials so every piece starts from a responsible foundation. Our production facility is FSC-accredited, and we use only OEKO-TEX and REACH-certified fabrics — free from harmful chemicals across our threads, padding, prints, buttons, zippers and rivets.

Sustainable sourcing

Recycled materials & packaging.

From the wadding and felt around our frames to the fabrics themselves, we choose the highest possible recycled content. Every piece is then wrapped and delivered in 100% recycled bubble film — so the packaging can be recycled and go on to lead a productive life many times over.

Recycled materials

Waste management.

Using fully automated production systems like Lectra's Furniture on Demand and Industry 4.0 solutions, we've cut waste of fabric — one of our industry's most impactful materials — by 10%, and focused the rest of our process on recycling.

The new A++ energy rated building.

We've broken ground on a new A++ energy-rated office and production facility — fitted with energy-saving equipment, smart lighting, and atriums that bring nature indoors for calmer, better workspaces.

A workplace built to the same standard as our furniture.

Independently tested & certified.

Independently tested & certified.

We had one of our sofas independently assessed at the eco INSTITUT in Germany, tested for pollutants and emissions far beyond existing legal requirements. It passed — earning eco INSTITUT certification and meeting some of the highest testing standards in Europe.

SOCIAL: OUR PEOPLE

Health & wellbeing.

In a fast-paced, ever-changing working environment, protecting our people's physical and mental wellbeing is one of our highest priorities. It's something we monitor and support every day, not just when problems arise.

We offer fully covered annual health checks, mental-health services and vaccination programs, and we're rolling out a standardised working guide with ergonomic stations designed around the person rather than the other way round — for fewer accidents and a more comfortable, pain-free day. Looking after our employees' health matters to us just as much as them looking after the health of our brand.

Health & wellbeing

Development & training.

When our people grow, so does Vilmers. Through relevant, worthwhile training programs we give our workforce the chance to expand and enhance their skills — building a more varied, diverse and capable team in the process.

From LEAN methods and the Andon system to standardised work, employee kaizen training and project tools like oobeya, there's a wide range of ways for people to train and retrain. It all adds up to one thing: giving our employees the knowledge, confidence and skills to follow their ambitions, with nothing holding back their careers at Vilmers.

Development & training

Closer cooperation.

Transparency builds trust. By holding regular meetings and presentations with our employees and agents, we create closer, more open working relationships — and genuinely closer cooperation across the company.

Keeping everyone informed about where the brand is heading and the projects underway gives each person the chance to have their say, feel valued, and be a more integral part of the team. The result is a workforce that isn't simply told the direction, but helps shape it.

Closer cooperation

GOVERNANCE

Open by default.

Transparency keeps us honest. We publish company figures, implemented initiatives, annual sustainability reports and yearly tax figures for our stakeholders and government to see. Guided by a Best Practice Guide and an ESG-aligned code of conduct, we don't just talk about conscious initiatives — we back them with action and put them on the record.

Reaching our targets

REACHING OUR TARGETS

Aiming to be the world’s most sustainable furniture brand.

These initiatives are our starting point toward one shared goal: limiting global warming to 1.5°C, in line with the Paris Agreement. Our strategy fulfils 12 of the agreement's proposals and meets 9 UN Sustainable Development Goals — with the biggest impact coming from our new production facilities. We're committed to being part of the solution.
